Sustainability Design Manager

Atkins Search have a unique and exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Design Manager to join a
family-owned construction main contractor based in the East Midlands.

As the Sustainability Design Manager, you will be focused on delivering sustainable, net zero, carbon solutions. You
will be the lead for all project materials, energy and build solutions as the client drives to become a carbon neutral business. By developing a deliverable strategy to create truly sustainable projects through the management of Initial embodied energy, Recurring embodied energy and Operational energy, you will lead the ongoing search for continuous improvement in the design aspects of the projects your team will deliver.

• Lead the development and design aspect of project sustainability
• Implement sustainable alternative during the design process
• Act as the subject matter expert for sustainable design
• Working collaboratively with frameworks to work towards carbon reduction
• Implement embodied carbon in design
• Reading and interpreting drawings and technical specifications
• Management of specialist designers and managing others in your team
• Navigating design package software
• Manage the development and implementation of design proposals ensuring they meet client requirements
• Manage and ensure effective briefing of the Design Team
• Provide advice and guidance on the design proposals to the construction teams on all packages.
• Lead the development and management of the design deliverables programme

• You will come from a Design Management or architectural background with extensive experience and interest in sustainability
• Experience modelling different material alternatives
• Understand of embodied carbon modelling in a framework lead environment
• Present plans clearly, concisely, accurately and in ways that ensure understanding
• Constructively seek better alternatives
• Find practical ways to overcome barriers
• Set demanding but achievable objectives for yourself and others
• Balance multiple priorities and build consensus on the way forward
• Make and implement difficult and/or unpopular decisions.
• Construction related degree
• Experience of JCT/ NEC forms of contract
• Experience of using 4P EDMS Remuneration
