Safety Advisor

Atkins Search are currently recruiting for a Safety Advisor for a reputable construction main contractor based in Stoke covering the Northern regions. This role is to manage and oversee the health and safety across a number of exciting construction projects.

Role

Our client is looking to bring in a Safety Advisor to play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of workers on construction sites. Your primary responsibility is to promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly inspect construction sites to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Report and address unsafe practices or conditions promptly
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential risks associated with tasks, equipment, and environmental conditions
  • Develop strategies to mitigate identified risks
  • Develop and implement health and safety policies tailored to the construction site
  • Ensure all workers are aware of and adhere to these policies
  • Provide safety training and induction sessions for new workers
  • Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, or near misses to determine causes
  • Prepare reports and recommend measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety audits, training sessions, incidents, and corrective actions
  • Advise project managers and site supervisors on health and safety matters
  • Suggest improvements to enhance overall site safety

Person

  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards
  • Ability to analyse complex situations and propose practical solutions
  • Effective communication skills
  • Familiarity with construction processes and equipment
  • Relevant qualifications, such as NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) or IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) certification.
