Role

For the role of Quantity Surveyor for our client in a painting and decorating environment, you will play a crucial role in managing costs, ensuring profitability, and maintaining quality throughout a project.

Working alongside an established team, you will be supported to take ownership of interesting and local projects, to ensure the most commercially viable outcome is achieved.

The successful Quantity Surveyor will be operating in a trusted environment, operating autonomously to take ownership of various schemes up to the values of £0.5m.

Responsibilities

As the Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the provision of accurate and timely commercial reports, supporting the operational team and ensuring the project hits the appropriate financial targets.

  • Preparing accurate cost estimates and competitive tenders for painting and decorating projects
  • Assessing project specifications, drawings, and bills of quantities to calculate costs
  • Sourcing and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotes
  • Reviewing and negotiating terms of contracts to protect the contractor’s interests
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, codes, and legislation
  • Monitoring and managing project budgets to avoid cost overruns
  • Preparing detailed cost plans and forecasts
  • Preparing interim valuations and applications for payment
  • Conducting site visits to measure completed work and ensure quality
  • Preparing and agreeing on final accounts with clients and subcontractors

Person

The ideal candidate for the Quantity Surveyor job will have an established Surveying career working in painting and decorating contracting environment.

You will also need to be proactive, positive, and confident communicating at all levels and able to work as part of a close-knit team.

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management or comparable qualification
  • Excellent NEC3 knowledge
  • Experience working for a painting and decorating contractor
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Positive, driven and team-oriented attitude
  • Ability to operate autonomously and as part of wider teams across the business
  • Current or previous roles: Quantity Surveyor OR Project Quantity Surveyor OR Project Surveyor
