Overview
Atkins Search have an opportunity for an experienced Planner to join a leading construction main contractor based in Manchester.
Client
Our client is a thriving, privately owned construction company with an exceptional annual turnover projected for next year. They specialise in delivering projects across the education, defence, healthcare, and commercial sectors. With a growing portfolio, the Midlands and North team plays a crucial role in maintaining success and reputation for excellence.
Planners are integral part of the team, working on both tender and delivery planning across MOD, MOJ, education, and public/private sector projects. As the business continues to expand, they are seeking experienced Planners to join the team, with opportunities for career growth and development.
Role
This role will focus on providing tender and delivery planning expertise for projects across the Midlands and North, with occasional travel. You’ll report the Planning Manager who leads the division across all regions, working closely with project teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Develop fully integrated project programmes, including design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover stages
- Produce tender programmes and support bids, ensuring competitive and accurate project plans
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies
- Create and manage logistics plans, phasing plans, and detailed site sequences
- Prepare and present progress reports for clients and senior management, using tools such as critical path analysis and key performance indicators
- Ensure all planning aligns with NEC contract requirements and company standards
- Collaborate with bid and delivery teams to maintain high-quality project execution
Person
- Proven experience in both tender and delivery planning within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts and experience in build projects (civils background with design and build experience considered)
- Proficiency in planning software, including Asta Powerproject, MS Project, and Primavera P6
- Knowledge of MOD, MOJ, education, and public/private sector projects is desirable
- Ability to work on-site and in the office as needed
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
