Mechanical Contracts Manager
Overview
Atkins Search are currently working with an industry leading M&E sub-contractor to recruit an experienced Mechanical Contracts Manager to join the existing team in delivering a wide range of successful projects across the construction industry.
Client
Based in Derbyshire, but operating on a national basis, our client holds over 100 years’ experience supplying heating, plumbing, ventilation, and air conditioning services to major construction main contractors across a wide array of sectors to include Healthcare, Education, Leisure, Residential, Food, Retail, and Blue Light.
Role
To deliver a quality service and product to major clients in line with the project goals by working with the project team. You will be responsible for managing the building services design/installation process and to minimise risks associated with this to the project and to the company.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the full lifecycle of contracts, from negotiation and drafting to execution and closeout.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including project managers, engineers to ensure contracts align with company objectives and client expectations.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments for each contract, identifying potential issues and developing strategies for risk mitigation.
- Implement and enforce contract compliance measures to minimise risks and ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
- Negotiate terms and conditions with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to achieve mutually beneficial agreements.
- Maintain open lines of communication with all parties involved, addressing concerns, and resolving issues promptly to ensure positive working relationships.
- Provide leadership and guidance to site operatives, ensuring they understand and comply with contractual obligations and project requirements.
- Collaborate with site supervisors to optimise resource allocation, manage work schedules, and address any operational challenges.
- Create and maintain accurate and organised contract documentation, including contract summaries, amendments, and correspondence.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on contract performance, risks, and opportunities.
Person
- Proven experience as a Contracts Manager in the mechanical plumbing and heating industry.
- Ideally, a recognised qualification in Building Services Engineering or a similar engineering subject, but it could be that you have the equivalent level of knowledge gained through practical experience
- Experience in the Construction industry
- A willingness to be accountable for your own responsibilities, actions, judgements and decisions, and the ability motivate and communicate with the wider team
- Understands the pre-construction process
- Able to organise and manage the design phase of a project
- Understanding of how to comply with a Health & Safety policy and Health & Safety management system.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Exceptional organisational and project management abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and thorough documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
