Maintenance Engineer
Overview
We are looking for a proactive and skilled Electrical Shift Maintenance Engineer to join our team in Barking, East of England. This role involves ensuring the reliability and efficiency of plant equipment through preventative and corrective maintenance. The position operates on a four-on, four-off rotation, covering both day (6am–6pm) and night (6pm–6am) shifts.

Responsibilities
- Maintenance Services: Deliver both reactive and preventative maintenance on all operational equipment and infrastructure.
- Contractor Coordination: Manage external contractors, review RAMS, provide permits to work, and oversee on-site activities to ensure safety and compliance.
- System Management: Utilize the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to plan and document maintenance tasks while maintaining accurate records.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to projects and adopt modern manufacturing practices such as Lean, Kanban, OEE, and TOC to enhance operational efficiency.
- Compliance & Safety: Collaborate with the SHEQ team to address audits, ensure adherence to GMP, COSHH, and ISO standards, and meet UK regulatory requirements.
The Person
- Qualifications: Multi-skilled maintenance engineer with Mechanical & Electrical certifications and IOSH – Managing Safely accreditation.
- Experience: Proven background in maintenance within heavy industrial or waste environments.
- Technical Expertise: Knowledge of mechanical drive systems (chain, belt, gearboxes, transmissions) and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, proactive attitude, and attention to detail in ensuring safe and efficient maintenance operations.
