Atkins Search Limited are currently recruiting a Bridge Structural Examiner Inspector (STE02/STE03/STE04).

All works undertaken are aligned with the current British Standards such as CS 450 (Inspection of Highway Structures), CS 464 (Non-Destructive Testing of Highway Structures) & CS 465 (Special Inspection of Post-Tensioned Concrete Bridges) etc.

With nationwide coverage, our client
can undertake works from small one-off projects for privately owned assets through to large multi-disciplined schemes and frameworks.

ROLE

The Bridge Examiner/Inspector will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of inspections across the rail infrastructure and highways. This vital role involves verifying and interpreting examinations and inspections of civils/highway/railway assets including bridges, viaducts and retaining walls, ensuring that they are safe and in good condition and making recommendations for future maintenance activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspection of a variety of structures including culverts, bridges and retaining walls
  • Leading inspection teams
  • Preparation of reports/drawings/schedules of defects

PERSON

  • Ideally, you will be Competent as an independent Examiner
  • STE03–Visually examine Minor Structures.
  • STE04–Examine the condition of Structures.
  • Ideally degree educated with a railway Civil Engineering background or an experienced STE04 Examiner looking for the next step in their career.
  • A working knowledge of examination and inspection techniques, production of high-quality reports and identification of defects and remedial actions.
  • Familiarisation with technical standards.
  • The ability to make engineering decisions based on the condition and likely deterioration rate of a given structure, considering environmental and causal factors.
  • The willingness to be held responsible for their recommendations.
  • Evidence of training and mentoring staff in technical aspects of an engineering role.
  • Ideally having experience in masonry, metallic, concrete and timber structures.
  • Having experience with bridges, retaining walls, culverts, viaducts, and ancillary assets.
  • Clear communication and the ability to distil technical information into easily understandable language.
