Atkins Search have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Estimator to join a specialist civil and construction contractor based in Derby.
Client
Our client has an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality civil engineering and construction projects across a variety of sectors. Their expertise spans retail and commercial developments, energy infrastructure, waste management facilities, industrial projects, potable water and effluent treatment systems, as well as flood defence and environmental works.
Role
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing and submitting tenders and budgets, ensuring competitiveness and alignment with client requirements. You will also provide guidance to junior staff when needed and build strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal departments.
Responsibilities
Day to day, your Estimating responsibilities will include preparing and submitting tenders and budgets, including obtaining supporting quotations for subcontract work, materials and plant. You will also supervise the work of junior staff, when required.
- Analyse enquiry documentation, develop detailed estimates, and ensure compliance with tender requirements and company procedures.
- Visit sites to assess factors such as access, utilities, and other cost-influencing conditions.
- Work closely with contracts, procurement, and design teams to deliver effective construction methods and accurate pricing.
- Ensure construction methods adhere to current legislation and company health and safety policies.
- Maintain company standards and confidentiality while identifying opportunities for additional business.
Person
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimator looking to join a collaborative, established contractor, working on unique, dynamic and interesting projects.
- Experience in preparing competitive tenders and budgets in civil engineering
- 5 to10 years of Estimating experience in the same or associated sectors
- UK driving licence
- NEC contract experience
- Strong knowledge of construction methods and regulations.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to mentor and supervise junior staff effectively.
- A proactive and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
