Estimator

Atkins Search are recruiting for an experienced Estimator to join a n established construction main contractor based in Leicestershire.

Our client is a privately owned, leading main contractor specialising in healthcare, commercial, and education sectors. They have grown year-on-year, with exciting projects and a secure pipeline of work, particularly within the medical imaging sector.

Our client’s reputation is built on professionalism, approachability, and a down-to-earth culture, with directors involved in the day-to-day operations.

This role will focus on competitive tender and negotiated work, primarily in refurbishments rather than new builds, across healthcare, commercial, and education projects. You will be bringing fresh energy and commitment to a supportive team of two estimators, with occasional involvement from senior management.

• Review and assess tender documentation to establish requirements
• Compile and issue subcontractor and supplier enquiries
• Analyse returned tenders, ensuring alignment with project needs
• Identify tender qualifications and exclusions
• Prepare tender cost documents using in-house formats
• Create tender-stage programmes and price general works from first principles
• Price project preliminaries, including welfare, waste, and protection requirements
• Conduct site visits for tender surveys nationally

• 3–5 years of estimating experience in healthcare, commercial, or education sectors within a main contracting capacity

• Refurbishment project expertise (preferred over new builds)
• Strong structural knowledge
• Excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
