Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Atkins Search are recruiting for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to a family-run, quality-driven and locally trusted residential developer based in Central Nottingham.

Our respected client, is a successful residential developer focused on providing quality new homes in the East Midland’s finest locations and offer a universal dream home that can be available to first time buyers, smaller households or expanding families.

Operating locally to deliver anywhere between 50 to 200 plots of prestigious, traditional homes our client is looking for the next addition to their team to develop and grow with the business.

Working closely with the Senior Commercial Team, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of local residential development schemes across the East Midlands in a cost-effective, quality focused manor.

This role offers an opportunity for either a Trainee Quantity Surveyor looking for the next career step, or an established Assistant Quantity Surveyor seeking an opportunity to work in a success-driven environment.

• Take responsibility for subcontract management, including subcontract procurement, forecasting, raising subcontractor orders and negotiating subcontract terms
• Prepare subcontract documents, enquiries, and assessment of quotations
• Place subcontract orders, agreement and certification of subcontract valuations, invoice, subcontract payments and final account agreements
• Be responsible for the management of the change control process, risk and value management.
• Manage and track project changes, variations and/or notices
• Assess and value variations and compensation events
• Prepare and submit interim valuations and payment applications to clients, along with the agreement of final accounts
• Attend risk review, progress and commercial meetings on-site with the site team
• Be actively involved with tender process for subcontract and materials
• Support the operational team in daily commercial and contractual aspects

The ideal candidate for the Assistant Quantity Surveyor job will have a proven track record as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor in a residential developer environment. You will also need to be proactive, positive and confident communicating at all levels and able to work as part of a team.

• Quantity Surveying degree/qualification
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor
• COINS experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel
