Role

As an Assistant Buyer, you will support the Buying Team in delivering efficient and effective procurement strategies across various projects. You’ll work closely with project teams and suppliers to ensure materials and services are procured to the highest standards of value and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and liaise with potential suppliers, ensuring value for money and compliance with specifications.
  • Negotiate and place purchase orders for materials, plant hire, and equipment.
  • Compile tenders, analyse results, and manage frameworks to support project needs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and project teams.
  • Monitor procurement schedules and ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Support the Pre-Construction Team by advising on alternative products and reviewing tenders.
  • Maintain accurate cost reports and procurement records.

Person

  • A proactive individual with a keen eye for detail and excellent negotiation skills.
  • Buying / Purchasing experience within a construction main contracting environment
  • Strong organisational abilities and the capability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A commitment to achieving the best value and driving innovation within the procurement process.
