Architectural Technician

Atkins Search are recruiting for an Architectural Technician to join a professional, aspiring construction and development consultancy based in Derby.

Our client, a dynamic team of multi-disciplined consultants, has experienced rapid growth in recent years with a diverse portfolio of exciting projects ahead. They offer a unique blend of 'in house' construction and development projects, along with services for private and public sector clients.
The company's newly established architectural division is actively looking for an ambitious candidate to join their team. This role presents an opportunity to contribute to the company's expansion, focusing on projects in residential, commercial, education, and leisure sectors.
Role
Operating as an Architectural Technician, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and enhancing the design aspect of projects and external client ventures, working across a mix of sectors including HMO, commercial and residential.
Daily work will involve the predominant use of AutoCAD and some Revit, Sketchup.
Responsibilities
- Collating and organising technical building information from the site team
- Preparing designs using AutoCAD software and traditional drawing methods
- Making site visits
- Investigating and offering technical advice on factors that affect building developments, including user needs, site and building surveys, and regulatory requirements
- Monitoring designs for health and safety and contributing to risk assessments
- Coordinating detailed design information
- Preparing specifications for construction work
- Preparing drawings, plans, and documents for statutory approvals
- Obtaining tenders for construction work
- Preparing applications for approval by regulatory bodies
- Contributing to meetings and document preparation
- Researching new design processes, building legislation and technology.
Person
- A Degree qualification in Architectural Technology, Construction or similar/equivalent to this
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD
- Ideally have at least 3+ years’ experience working in the industry/Architectural Practice
- Use of Revit and other software items such as Sketchup, Photoshop etc.
- Clean driving license and be able to attend site in and around the East Midlands
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work individually and as a collaborative team
