New year, New career

New Year, New Job

As we step into 2025, Atkins Search understand the ‘New Year, New Me’ hype can be overwhelming, especially for job seekers. January is the month of new beginnings, and hiring managers are actively seeking top talent to kick off their year. This makes January a busy time and with so much competition, standing out is crucial!

New change can be daunting, but it also brings new opportunities! 🎯

Start the year with clarity and confidence—watch our recruitment experts provide actionable insights to make all the difference in your job search. 🫵

  1. Networking is one of the best ways to search for a job. By connecting with others, you can discover job opportunities that aren’t always posted publicly. In fact, some positions never get advertised at all. If you focus on building relationships and communicate your skills, it can really pay off in your career. Not only does it help you create a good reputation, but people are also more inclined to recommend you to their contacts.
  1. With more than 100 applicants per position (on average), employers are going to pick candidates whose resumes match what they’re looking for. Rearrange the bullet points and other details to align better with what they’re looking for. Don’t forget to cut out anything that doesn’t really fit, so the employer can easily spot your most relevant experience.
  1. Recruitment agencies are constantly on the hunt for great candidates to connect with their clients. Make sure to send your finished CV to recruitment agencies that specialise in your desired fields or industries. Reach out to them and approach any meeting like it’s an interview. If you make a good impression, they’ll be much more inclined to recommend you for job openings or pass you along to a hiring company.
  1. If you’re aiming for a job in a field where you already have some experience, you have an advantage as you probably know the ins and outs better than someone new to it. But if you’re trying to break into a new industry or returning to an industry after a break, it’s a good idea to do some research. This could involve chatting with people who work in that industry, reading books and articles, checking out relevant videos, or listening to podcasts. Understanding the industry will help you tailor your CV and cover letter for the positions you want, plus it’ll give you insights into useful skills, networking chances, and job specifics.
