Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week: The Value of Business Administration Apprenticeships

The Value of Business Administration Apprenticeships in Construction Recruitment

At Atkins Search we are passionate about investing in future talent and developing the next generation of professionals. As we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, we want to highlight the incredible value that apprenticeships bring to both individuals and businesses, especially within the construction recruitment industry.

The Role of a Business Administration Apprentice in Construction Recruitment

Behind successful construction recruitment is a well-organised recruitment process, and that’s where business administration apprentices play a crucial role. We are proud to have Lily as part of our team, gaining hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of construction recruitment. In late 2023, Lily joined us as a Business Admin Apprentice whilst studying at Nottingham College. Since joining us, following her summer work experience, Lily has made an incredible impact on our business!

From supporting recruitment consultants with key administrative tasks to organising recruitment processes and ensuring seamless communication between candidates and clients, Lily is already making a huge impact.

Why Apprenticeships Matter in the Recruitment Industry

Apprenticeships provide a fantastic opportunity for individuals to gain real-world experience while earning a qualification. In construction recruitment, strong administrative support ensures that job placements run smoothly, compliance is maintained, and clients receive top service.

By investing in apprenticeships, we’re not just helping individuals build their careers, but we’re also strengthening our business with fresh talent, new ideas, and a workforce that is trained to succeed from day one.

We Asked Lily about what she’s learnt throughout her Apprenticeship, watch the video here

Why Did You Choose to Do a Business Administration Apprenticeship at Atkins Search?

  • I chose to do a Business Administration apprenticeship at Atkins Search in Nottingham because University wasn’t for me, so I decided to explore my options with the apprenticeship route. What’s the Best Part of a Business Admin Apprenticeship at Atkins Search?

  • The best part is putting the theory that I’ve learnt at college into practice but also learning while I’m working. Every day is different, and I get to work with experienced recruiters, learning how the business operates behind the scenes. The role helps me build key skills in organisation, communication, and business administration, while also contributing to the company’s success. Plus, the supportive work environment at Atkins Search makes learning and developing my career an exciting journey.

What Is Your Day-to-Day Like as a Business Admin Apprentice?

  • My daily tasks include supporting consultants with admin tasks like adding candidates to our CRM system, formatting CVs and cleaning the data on our system. The mix of admin, business operations, and recruitment exposure keeps the role engaging and helps me develop a wide range of professional skills.
